|First day out on Oliver|
Being very early March, I wasn't able to bike to work with much consistency, but it biked in every day I could. The trip would vary if I was riding from my aunt and uncle's house (6.3 miles) or from my boyfriend's in the valley (11 miles). I decided on a hybrid because that was what I was used to back east, and there are a few trails in Juneau that are maintained for bicycles that I'd like to take it on. Lately, however, I'm wondering if I should have gone with a regular road bike. Now that I've moved, my commute is 13 miles each way. It takes an hour- which is not bad, but I could probably make the trip even quicker on a road bike.

I've been biking a lot more in the last week. The thing that you have to get over in Juneau is the rain. I've convinced myself to bike to work rain or shine. If you wait for good weather, you'll never do much outdoors with any kind of regularity. Since March 2, I've already put 340 miles on the bike... 105 just this week! I've set a goal of 2,000 miles for 2013. I should be able to do it if I keep up the good work and bike through September.
I'm even convincing other people to bike in with me!

Despite what I said about biking in rain or shine, I didn't mention snow. Today is the first day all week I didn't bike to work because (on April 26) this is what we woke up to today:
They're calling for 4-6 inches of snow today. I decided to drive, and I think it was a good decision today.
